Born and raised in Southern California, Fred Tomaselli creates collage paintings bursting with radiant colors and meticulous detail. Influenced by rock music and the mesmerizing power of psychedelics, Tomaselli transforms daily newspapers including The New York Times into artworks that evoke alternate realities in other dimensions. His expansive practice includes large-scale paintings incorporating mazes, mosaics, and starbursts that invite viewers to question the world around them. Tomaselli elaborates, “I grew up in the shadow of Disneyland, and was very comfortable with the notion of fabricated reality.”

Join Fred Tomaselli in conversation with OCMA’s CEO and Director, Heidi Zuckerman, as they discuss perception, perspective, and creative arts rooted in California. Tomaselli’s work is featured in the 13 Women: Variation IV exhibition.

Tickets are free and required.
