...........................................................................................

........................................................................................... About Erik SatieErik Satie (Paris, 1866 –1925) was a composer and pianist noted for his experimentalism and rejection of Romanticism. His spare, unconventional, often witty style exerted a major influence on 20th-century music, particularly in France and eventually throughout the modern and contemporary classical music world.

Satie was a defining figure in the early 20th century Parisian avant-garde. His work was also a precursor to later artistic movements, notably minimalism and repetitive music, and the Theatre of the Absurd. Considered an eccentric, Satie was introduced as a “gymnopedist” in 1887, shortly before writing his most famous and lyrical compositions, the Gymnopédies. Later, he referred to himself as a “phonometrician” meaning someone who measures sounds, preferring this designation to that of musician. ...........................................................................................................
