LAURA CANTRELL has a unique, modern country perspective that is evident on her latest album, Humming by the Flowered Vine (Matador Records). As Elvis Costello once told WORD magazine (U.K.): "If Kitty Wells made 'Rubber Soul' it would sound like Laura Cantrell."
THE WINGDALE COMMUNITY SINGERS are David Grubbs (of Gastr Del Sol and Squirrel Bait), visual artist Nina Katchadourian, novelist Rick Moody, singer-songwriter Hannah Marcus, and fiddler Abe Streep. Their eponymous album was released in 2005 on Plain Recordings.
LES CHAUD LAPINS present French songs of the '20s-'40s. Kurt Hoffman (The Ordinaires and Band of Weeds) and Meg Reichardt (Roulette Sisters) use banjo ukuleles to conjure an alternate reality in this eccentric and charming band.
Tickets $25.
